TUMERIC

Turmeric is a flowering plant belonging to the ginger family, Zingiberaceae. It is a perennial, rhizomatous, and herbaceous plant indigenous to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. It thrives in temperatures between 20 and 30°C (68 and 86°F) and requires a significant amount of annual rainfall. The plants are harvested annually for their rhizomes, some of which are used for propagation in the subsequent season, while others are used for consumption.
